Eric Clapton to headline Glastonbury?

Clapped Out
Clapped Out
There are strong rumours swirling around that Eric Clapton will be headlining the usually massive Glastonbury festival in 2007. From what I've seen on the UK music message boards, the overall response to this news has not been great. As one wit put it:

'He's like the friend you don't really like but he keeps turning up everywhere and annoying you, but you don't have the heart to tell him to fuck off 'cos his kid died... '

We at NYUB won't be doing that, however, we will be avoiding the main stage when he's on.

seems unlikely to me that they will be settling the line-up for 2007 now, even for headliners. maybe clapton himself starting the rumours that he will be headlining because he wants to?

Apparently it all started when Clapton wanted to play 2006 but because it's a 'fallow' year now i.e no glasters to give the cows a rest, he's decided upon 2007. I wish they would stop announcing bands beforehand as it's the main reason 120,000 tickets sell out in 10 hours.

Some artists can be dredged up from the past, given an ironic make-over and pass muster as hip; Eric Clapton, though, I think not.

Yes...Clapton seems to think we are all clammering to see him. Dear old man...we don't have to dredge him up....he appears everywhere!! Now that he doesn't have Roger his manager to filter bad decisions through he is all over the map. I agree with MK in live music...clapton should retreat for awhile. Or could it be that home life is not as blissful as he likes people to think? I mean come on ...29 and 60?? Whoa...

do even of yous people like or appreciate good music? Eric Clapton is not only a legend, but better today than he's ever been. Just become someone is older does not mean they are not good, or in my opinion amazing. Who would you like to headline? I bet they don't even have a thimble full of talent compared to clapton!! p.s. i like new music also so this is not biased. I'm also 18 not an older guy. WOOOOOOOO CLAPTON!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!
