Hey Rob,

Thanks heaps for the feedback. Podcasting is easy to do - you just need to play the music you're comfortable with. I'm a big fan of playing obscure music - it doesn't pull in the crowds like some of those generic American music podcasts out there but it certainly makes it a lot of fun. All the best and I'll check out your podcast.

Consider this another comment with love for your show.

Couldn't believe it when you started playing Patrick Wolf, I hadn't even seen your tracklist before I started listening.

I've been thinking about the logic of podcasting. Obvioulsy the the increase in the use of mp3 players makes a demand for downloadable material. I'd have thought, though, that systems for scheduling & capturing streaming audio from existing web radio stations would have become the norm, rather than what seems to be a cruder mechanism; i.e. direclty downloading an mp3 file. Could it possibly have anything to do with the fact that many large companies prevent their staff from receiving certain web content for bandwidth hogging reasons. That is certainy the reason I got into using podcasts (that and the death of John Peel)

It may not be the norm at the moment but I certainly think it will be in the future, once licensing issues are overcome. As far as I understand, terrestrial radio shows have to stream their content and are not allowed to make it downloadable on demand (in MP3 format) as part of their licensing agreements. Even though podcasting involves MP3 downloading, the main attraction for people is that the file appears automatically in iTunes (if you're using a podcast aggregator) so you can easily chuck it into your iPod for listening ON THE GO - something that cannot be done easily with streaming radio unless you have a very powerful 3G phone and a bottomless pocket to pay for the bandwidth charges.
