NYUB Top 10 - 2005 / NYUB.TV Update / Quick wrap-up

With all the frenetic top 10 album / artist / single bollocks going on this month it's only fair that I put my 2p in. I'm not even going to try and justify why I've picked the following 10 albums as I'd rather avoid a whole indie-wank debate so here you go:

  1. Isolee - We are monster
  2. Clor - Cor
  3. The National - Alligator
  4. LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
  5. Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have it So Much Better with Franz Ferdinand
  6. Patrick Wolf - Wind in the Wires
  7. The Boy Least Likely To - The Best Party Ever
  8. Sigur Ros - Takk...
  9. Ladytron - Witching Hour
  10. Boards of Canada - Campfire Headphase

So...no Girls Aloud, no Arctic Monkeys and no Sufjan Stevens (Seven Swans was better than Illinoise).

Also a quick update on NYUB.TV. I have all the material lined up but no time to slice and dice it into a proper video so it will have to wait until the end of January. I'm still not quite convinced that it's going to 'scale' as it's looking like a HELL of a lot of work.

There's one more NYUB coming out before the end of the year. It'll be released on Friday for all you lucky little bastards out there.

Thank you to everyone for making this a very, very special year. I started this little podcast back in January and I managed to scrape together about 90 listeners per show and almost a year later it's averaging about 7,000+ unique downloads per show. My aim was to create one of the best independent music podcasts showcasing the most ecclectic material that's legitimately available out there all served up with the chat and bullshit minimised. I hope I've succeeded.

I wasn't lucky enough to be one of the coveted first 90 (One day, when there is a massive NYUB convention each year, the OG 90 will wear special shirts commemorating their status) but I will say nine months of NYUB has improved my life. My skin is clearer, my hair thicker, my wallet fatter, my sex life...sexier. All thanks to MK.
Well done in '05. Looking forward to what you have in store for us in '06. Happy New Year, mate.

I started listening around March and still listen to every one of your podcasts and try to promote the show on my blog. You have introduced me to alot of great tracks and bands, so for that I say thanks. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to another year of NYUB podcasts.
